We’ve scanned this from a one page feature from New Spotlight from early July 1967. Tom Jones was on a 10 day tour of Ireland at the time and he attended a reception for New Spotlight and to mark the launch of new magazine Young Woman
The top picture is Tom Jones with Luke Kelly & Ciaran Bourke.
Next we have l to r, Jim Aiken, TJ, Michael Hand and John Coughlan, editor and managing editor respectively of New Spotlight.
Third pic is the Dubliners, who also provided the entertainment on the night.
Then its Michael Ryan (Evening Herald), Ronnie Drew, John Coughlan and Bill Troy who was art director at New Spotlight at the time. Final pic above is Tom with Eileen Ball of Cutex. Photographer is not credited but it may have been Ray Esmonde.
(Procul Harum were no 1 in the Irish chart that week, with “Whiter Shade of Pale”.)

7 Aug 2014Well, given the amount of knickers that he had thrown at him over the years he should have been able to open up a TV club of his own!
All right, yeah, that was bad. The old Four Provinces Ballroom, wasn’t it? Demolished in the 80’s along with the Charlotte pub, when they also demolished, erm, Charlotte Street. And Gleeson’s pub shortly thereafter.
