Kevin Rowland of Dexys Midnight Runners, having had a few run ins with the music press, imposed a press embargo in July 1980 and would instead use their own ads in the music papers to explain the band’s position. The scan above is one of these ads. Its at a time between”Searching for the Young Soul Rebels” and “Too-Rye-Ay” when Rowland kicked out some members from the band as they had “hatched a plot to throw Kevin out and still carry on under the same name”
