Dublin airport opened to air traffic in 1940. This booklet was published in 1962 and outlined the growth in traffic and amenities at the Airport through its first 22 years.
This is just a selection from the booklet.

  1. i still wear my best clothes and get all gusseted up for flying… can’t stand it when folk wear sweatpants and smelly plimsoles for aviation…they rob me and themselves of a sense of occasion… those ladies in the departure lounge look fantastic…they have just the right attitude for flying… they’re not complacent

  2. I was on a family day out in the early ’70s when we went to Shannon Airport, just to look at these aeroplane thingys that we thought we’d never be inside – to be brought there as a 7-yr-old back then would be like bringing a child to a space station today.
God knows how many times I’ve flown over the years and every visit to an airport is a big deal and makes me giddy.
