Issue no. 4 of the Face from August, 1980 and U2 get a 3 page feature. Words by Steve Taylor and pix by Mike Laye. You can see Dublin’s Custom House in the background of the Bono and Adam photo.
Thanks to Eamonn for lending his copy of the magazine.  Its a corker of an issue with features and pics on the Banshees, The Passions, Bunnyment, Human League (before the split) & more. It also had this pic (below) by Chalkie Davies of Phil Lynott.

  1. i have that million dollar hotel soundtrack album that u2 were involved in…that lovely trumpet player jon hassell…lovely record…and the unforgettable fire…how i love that too…a love a load of things they’ve done…those lovely slow pieces on october..achtung..blimey..what a canon of fine work.

  2. BOY is still my favourite U2 album by a mile. The Face was lifeline to what was going on in the world of music and fashion, and I probably would never have moved to London in the 80s without it’s influence. Recently bought a few old copies on eBay and am enjoying wallowing in memory lane … thanks for posting this 🙂

  3. Thanks Pete, glad you liked. Really glad my brother Eamonn kept all the early issues.
