Ten dog photos, all taken on one day in Ireland in 1988.

Always ‘Paws’ Before Crossing
10.30am: College Green, Dublin
On May 7, 1988, thousands of people took photographs of moments that, to them, best reflected the spirit of Ireland in their everyday lives. The photos were submitted to a panel of judges, who selected the best entries for publication in a book titled “One Day for Life in Ireland – Photographs by the People of Ireland, Taken on a Single Day.”
The book has hundreds of great photos, many worthy of digitising and hopefully a new lease of life. Dogs were featured in many of the photos in the book, so we’ve selected eleven of our favourites and brought them all together for you here.
Royalties from the sale of the book went to the Irish Cancer Society, which celebrated its Silver Jubilee that year. Donations to Irish Cancer Society can be made online here.
